3 year guarantee

USE :
All prusik knots made with Beal Regate prusik knot cord are components of a work positioning system. They must only be used in conjunction with EN361, EN358 or EN813 harnesses, EN362 locking connectors, EN795 anchors and the specific EN 1891 Type A ropes listed below:
Beal Bonsai EN1891 Type A (All lengths)
Beal Baobab EN1891 Type A (All lengths)
Beal Ginkgo EN1891 Type A (All lengths)

This product is an item of PPE designed to be used as part of a work positioning system for a single user. It must only be used to provide a mobile attachment point to the working rope.
The maximum rated load when tied in accordance with figures 1 & 2 is 100 kg.
Where failure of the product may lead to a fall a separate back up system must be used.
This product must only be used by competent and responsible persons and wherever possible the Regate prusik knot cord must be assigned to a single person.
Users must always ensure that all components of the work positioning system are suitable for the foreseeable loadings that may be applied. Poor technique, falls and emergency rescue techniques can increase anchor loadings significantly.
Regate prusik knot cord must not be used for fall arrest purposes.
Prior to use ensure that a complete risk assessment has been carried out to ascertain that the Regate prusik knot cord is appropriate to protect against the risks involved, and is compatible with the other components in the safety chain.
It is strictly forbidden to:
- Use the Regate prusik knot cord where a fall onto a slack connection is possible. High impact forces may be applied to both the anchor point and the user.
- Connect the Regate prusik knot cord to the rope in any other way to that shown in these instructions.
- Use the Regate prusik knot cord in rescue systems where loads of more than one person’s body weight may be applied.
- Use the Regate prusik knot cord to lift, lower or support loads other than a person.
- Use the Regate prusik knot cord in an explosive atmosphere.
Connection to the rope:
The Regate prusik cord should be formed into a loop by joining the finished ends with a Double Fisherman’s knot. See Fig1. This must be carefully dressed and then pre
-loaded before use (ensue that the end markings on the original reel of rope are transferred onto the new length)
The loop formed should be as short as practicable for the intended task, but must not exceed 1 metre in length on the major axis. Attach the Regate prusik knot cord to the main rope as shown in Fig2. Only the method of attachment with three wraps is authorised.
Ensure that the formed loops (A) are all fully tightened around the rope and that the knot (B) is clear of both the formed loops and the base of the connecting loop (C). Gently apply body weight to the connecting loop (C) in the direction of the lower end of the main rope to ‘pre-load’ the prusik and ensure adequate grip on the main rope. This ‘pre-loading’ must be done each time the prussik is repositioned on the main rope.
Connection of the Regate prusik knot cord to the harness attachment point must only be with a suitable EN 362 or EN12275 connector (such as the Petzl Am’D M18 ball lock or Petzl Ok M70). The connector must not interfere with the formed loops.
Harness attachment points must conform to the standards required for EN361, EN358 or EN813 harnesses.
Attachment to accessories used to create mobile waist attachment points are only permitted where such accessories are approved by the harness manufacturer and have been proven by testing to show no effect on performance of the Beal Regate prusik knot cord.
Where a ‘Prusik minding’ pulley is used, the user must ensure that the pulley does not interfere with the operation and security of, or cause damage to, the Beal Regate prusik knot cord during use.
Releasing the Prusik knot:
Under normal conditions the Prusik knot may be adjusted on the main rope by unloading the Prusik knot and then sliding the formed loops (A) along the rope. Should the Prusik knot not move it may be necessary to loosen the formed loops (A) by applying sideways pressure on the vertical portion of rope (D).

PRECAUTIONS :
To prolong the life of this product, care in use is necessary. Avoid impacts, sharp edges or movement against abrasive surfaces, contact with acids, solvents, excessive heat and / or sparks.
This Regate prusik knot cord is suitable for use in normal atmospheric conditions (-20 degrees C to + 50 degrees C).
If this cord is cut into lengths then both ends of the cord must be marked with the same information found on the original reel, except that the length must be that of the cut cord.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE :
Keep in a dry aired area away from direct sunlight, heat sources and chemicals.
This product must be stored and packaged / transported in such a way as to guard against cuts, tears and abrasion, damage due to contamination by acids, oil or corrosives and contact with heat.
Keep the Prussik clean and dry. Dirty components may be cleaned (see below). Oils should not be allowed to contact the Regate prusik knot cord.
All chemical products, corrosive materials and solvents should be regarded as harmful. If the Regate prusik knot cord comes into contact with any chemicals remove it from service and contact Beal with precise details of the chemicals concerned to ascertain its future safety.
Clean in clean water not exceeding 30°C with pure soap and rinse in clean cold water. Dry naturally away from any heat source.

LIFETIME :
Lifetime = Time of storage before first use + time in use.
The working life depends on the frequency and type of use.
Abrasion, UV exposure and humidity gradually degrade the properties of the rope.
Storage time: In good storage conditions this product may be kept for 5 years before first use without affecting its future lifetime duration in use.
Lifetime:
- Heavy use: 1 year
- Use of average intensity: 3 years
- Very Occasional use: 10 years.

Attention : These are nominal lifetimes indicated. A rope could be destroyed during its first use. It is the inspections which determine if the product must be scrapped more quickly. Proper storage between uses is essential. The lifetime of the rope in use must never exceed 10 years. The total maximum lifetime (storage before use + lifetime in use) is thus limited to 15 years. If in doubt do not hesitate to scrap the product.
